They live up to the hype on my vintage Porsche 911

I've used the Pirelli's on my vintage 911 for a long time and finally went with these Yokohamas that have gotten so much press. After about 1000miles, I'd have to say they are vastly superior to the Pirelli's in every way. Cornering is different in that the Pirelli's tend to hunt by grabbing irregularities in the pavement and there is a subtle feeling of being at the edge of traction when you're really not. These Yokohamas do not hunt in aggressive cornering at all. But along the same lines, when you've reached the tire limit in a radius, the departure from control is a lot less advertised. The Yokohamas don't speak to you and give you as much feedback as the Pirelli's at the limit of their traction. This is good and bad. Wet weather handling is very good (I live in Seattle). And so far tire wear seems to be average for how I drive. Overall, they are definitely worth the change from the Pirelli's and if I needed another set of tires today, I'd order another set of Yokohamas. They live up to the hype for the vintage 911s. As long as you can stomach all your Porsche buddies making fun of you having Japanese tires. LOL.
